This is a bit of a cheat, but I technically watched the last few episodes of season 1. I’d wondered how they were going to fill the last few episodes after Pazuzu had been banished from one of the girls, but we get hit with a right hook with Angela/Regan’s possession – much like Regan’s mom, who gets her neck fatally snapped before being tossed down the stairs.
I’d like to go on record as saying I hate the insult ‘stinkpot’, though. Pazuzu would have infinitely worse things to say.
Let’s skip to the end. I streamed it, but I didn’t appreciate the sombre exit of the Rance family with only the father and two girls visible, only to tell us in the final scene that Angela/Regan survived the final, literally back-breaking ritual, despite looking lifeless and wept over multiple scenes ago. She’s alive, and she’s in a wheelchair. But she feels safe, after the family has uprooted from their jobs, schools etc., to live somewhere more remote.
The only character I was curious to see continue was Father Marcus (Ben Daniels), because much of his character is hidden behind the churchy hysterics that fellow priest Father Tomas (Alfonso Herrera) twirls out. Both are fun to see playing off each other, but I’m glad Marcus survived.
Can’t say I’ll be watching season 2 in a hurry, but it did enough to warrant being on a ‘watch later’ list.
